Putin Responds to Proposal for 30-Day Ceasefire.

Russia is against a temporary ceasefire and desires a long-term resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by Yuri Ushakov, assistant to the President of Russia. He expressed his position regarding the proposal from the USA and Ukraine for a 30-day ceasefire, stating that Russia has its specific viewpoint on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
'The proposed temporary ceasefire in Ukraine is merely a short breather for the Ukrainian military... Steps that simulate peaceful actions regarding Ukraine are not needed by anyone,' he stated.
Ushakov also stated that the issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO cannot be discussed in the context of resolving the conflict. Russia hopes that the USA will take its demands regarding the situation in Ukraine into account. It is known that President of Russia Vladimir Putin is expected to provide a more concrete assessment of the proposal for a temporary ceasefire. Border guards also reported on the tactics of the Russians at the border of Ukraine with the Kursk region.
