The Pension Fund of Ukraine explained the procedure for appealing dubious sick leave certificates.

According to current legislation, employers in Ukraine can contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) to verify the sick leave certificates of their employees.
The PFU reports that assistance in case of temporary incapacity, pregnancy, and childbirth is provided based on a medical conclusion or documents confirming the adoption of a child, establishing guardianship over a child, or a sick leave certificate.
According to legislation, the employer or their authorized person has the right to decide on the insurance payment for temporary loss of working capacity. They are also responsible for controlling the correct calculation and timely execution of insurance payments.
'The insurer has the right to refuse the appointment or termination of insurance payments, as well as to check the basis and correctness of the documents issued that are the basis for insurance payments', the PFU emphasizes.
The verification of the legitimacy of sick leave certificates is carried out by specialists of the Pension Fund and doctors, the list of which is approved by the Fund's board.
If the employer has doubts about the legitimacy of the sick leave, they can contact the territorial body of the Pension Fund of Ukraine for verification.
The PFU also reminds about pension, subsidy, and sick leave payments to Ukrainians that have been made by the Fund.
