Fighting in the Kursk Region: Syrskyi Revealed Massive Losses of Russians, and Putin Visited the Region for the First Time.

Intensive fighting continues in the suburbs of Suja and surrounding areas, reported Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi on March 12, 2025. According to him, the enemy is using assault units of the airborne troops and special operations forces, trying to break through the Ukrainian defense and push the troops out of the Kursk region.
'In attempting to achieve political goals at all costs, the enemy has already suffered and continues to suffer significant losses in Kursk', Syrskyi emphasized.
At the same Time, Volodymyr Putin visited the Kursk region, where he held a meeting at one of the command points of the Russian military group.
According to Ukrainian military command, since the beginning of the Kursk operation, the total number of Russian military losses amounts to more than 54,900 personnel, of which irrecoverable losses are over 22,200, sanitary losses are 31,800, and prisoners are 942 individuals.
Approximately 2,100 units of Russian military equipment and weaponry, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, multiple launch rocket systems, air defense systems, aircraft, helicopters, vehicles, special equipment, and drones, have also been destroyed.
'The Russian aviation has conducted an unprecedented number of strikes on its own region. In particular, the city of Suja has been almost completely destroyed,' noted the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Syrskyi emphasized that the most important thing is to preserve the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, which is why they are maneuvering to more advantageous positions and using unmanned systems and artillery.
As of 6 PM on March 12, Ukrainian troops repelled eight enemy assault attempts in the Kursk direction.
According to Russian media, Putin stated that the Kursk region 'must be completely liberated and consider creating a security zone along the state border.'
'Despite the intensified activities of the Russian-North Korean army, we will continue to hold the defense in Kursk as long as necessary,' Syrskyi concluded.
