NYP: The Ceasefire Agreement in Ukraine Will Be a Bitter Pill for Putin.

The Ceasefire Agreement: Prospects for Putin and Russia
The ceasefire agreement between Ukraine and Russia may have significant consequences for Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the authors of an article from the New York Post, this could be a beneficial opportunity for Russia to ensure 'independence' and restore relations with the West, especially in the aftermath of the collapse of the regime in Syria, where Russia was the main sponsor of Assad.
In the authors' opinion, such a move would be wise for Putin, as the loss of Assad was a significant blow for him. The newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump may also see this as an opportunity for reconciliation with Russia, particularly given that Russia's ambitions exceed its capabilities. Furthermore, Trump has clearly stated that he does not intend to simply abandon Ukraine and end the war.
Thus, Putin has a chance to revive, restore relations with the West, and free himself from dependence on China.
