Zelensky and Trump discussed steps towards achieving peace
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation with President of the United States Donald Trump, during which they discussed specific steps to achieve peace.
The leaders agreed on the details of a ceasefire regime in the air, at sea, and the possibility of achieving a truce on the front lines. Zelensky informed Trump about the situation on the battlefield and the consequences of Russian strikes.

The presidents emphasized that Ukraine and the USA must work together to end the war and establish lasting peace. Zelensky expressed confidence in achieving peace this year with Trump's support.
Ukraine also supports the cessation of strikes on Russia's energy facilities but expects similar steps from Russia. Zelensky is ready to halt strikes on energy and other civilian infrastructure.
The presidents also discussed the situation in the Kursk region, the issue of releasing prisoners of war, and the return of Ukrainian children taken away by Russian forces. Both leaders stressed the need to improve relations between the USA and Russia.
According to White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, Trump seeks to end the conflict and bring Ukraine and Russia to a common agreement. She also noted the support for lasting peace and strengthening relations between the USA and Russia.
