The government allocated 6.3 million UAH for the restoration of the 'Okhmatdyt' hospital

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to allocate funds for the restoration of the National Children's Specialized Hospital 'Okhmatdyt', which was damaged as a result of a missile strike by Russia. The total amount of funds allocated is 6.3 million UAH, which will be spent on emergency and restoration work in two buildings of the hospital.

According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the restoration of medical institutions and modernization of medical infrastructure is one of the government's priorities. According to World Bank estimates, the need for restoring medical infrastructure amounts to 19.4 billion dollars over the next 10 years.

'The government, by its decree, allocates approximately 6.3 million UAH for the restoration of Okhmatdyt. This includes urgent emergency and conservation work in two buildings of the hospital. The restoration of Okhmatdyt is a priority for the government this year, and we will work on it consistently,' said Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

The allocated funds will be used for the protection of the toxicology building No. 3, which has great historical significance, as well as for the repair of the administrative building. The allocation of financing is carried out through a special fund of the state budget with the aim of preserving the historical buildings of the hospital associated with prominent Ukrainian doctors.

We remind you that on July 8, five buildings of the 'Okhmatdyt' hospital were damaged during a missile strike. A commission convened to determine the next steps recommends first conducting emergency and urgent restoration works, and then carrying out the restoration of the building according to scientific and design documentation.

The Ministry of Health noted that the distribution of the allocated funds will create appropriate conditions for restoring the damaged historical building and changing the functional purpose of the building according to the needs of the hospital.
