Ukrainians will have to register their pets: what will change from the new year.

From the new year mandatory registration of pets will be introduced
In Ukraine, from 2025, mandatory registration of pets will begin. This news was reported by 'Hvylya', referring to TSN.
With the aim of eurointegration, a unified register is being created in Ukraine, which will contain data about pets, their vaccinations, diseases, and owner contacts. This data will be available through the 'Diia' application. Although registration is voluntary, developers urge owners not to miss this opportunity. Currently, there are no plans to introduce a tax on pet owners.
Olena, a pet owner, is already familiar with the unified register but is in no hurry to register her pet Varg. She believes that the dog is already in good order: vaccinations are timely, and necessary tests are conducted. Olena sees no point in additional registration.
Among the animals that require registration are cats, dogs, and ferrets. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food explained that this list was chosen due to the prevalence of these types of animals. Deputy Minister Denys Bashlyk noted that ferrets rank third among the most common pets in Ukraine.
Currently, it is unknown exactly how many pets are in Ukraine due to the lack of a unified database. The new register will be accessible to all veterinarians, both public and private, which will allow issuing state-standard passports.
Registration of animals will be free of charge. However, many pet owners did not register their beloved pets before the invasion of Russia into Ukraine. Only those who often travel and cannot leave their pets for a long period expressed interest. Such people were forced to take care of microchipping and vaccination of their animals.
Animal registration will be available for owners from the beginning of 2025. The project is experimental and voluntary, but the government hopes for the active participation of responsible pet owners.
Recently, the idea of penalizing drivers for a new violation in Ukraine was also proposed.
