A Ukrainian man died under mysterious circumstances in a US immigration center: what is known.

A Ukrainian man died in a hospital in Florida while in the custody of the immigration service
A citizen of Ukraine, Maksym Cherniak, died in a hospital in Florida while in the custody of the US immigration service. The cause of death was a brain hemorrhage. His wife claims that her husband had no medical conditions and that the failure to provide proper medical assistance in the detention facility was the cause of the tragedy.
Maksym Cherniak died on February 20 in a hospital in Miami-Dade. He had previously experienced vomiting and seizures, and was brought to a medical facility. A CT scan revealed a massive brain hemorrhage.
The wife’s words were confirmed by another detainee who reported how Cherniak collapsed in the bathroom. He noted that he called the officers, but the medics refused to come until after the death was reported. Help arrived several hours later when the Ukrainian's condition was nearly unconscious.
It is known that Maksym Cherniak ended up in the immigration detention center after being arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. However, his wife claims that the police misunderstood the situation, as he did not speak English at a sufficient level.
This is already the third case of death in this detention center. The ICE agency stated that they provide all migrants with necessary medical assistance and reported Cherniak's death to the relevant authorities.
Unfortunately, Maksym Cherniak is not the only Ukrainian who has died in prison in the USA. Another Ukrainian citizen, the well-known inventor Lyubomyr Romankiv, died in 2024 in the USA.
