Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has faced criticism in the European Union for his positions on Ukraine and Russia. He opposes EU assistance to Ukraine and calls for the lifting of sanctions against Russia. Instead of gaining influence after Donald Trump's return, Orban is becoming even more isolated.

Orban blocks EU decisions that require unanimous support from all member countries, complicating the process of reaching consensus on global issues and threatening the unity of the bloc.

Despite this, Orban continues to support Russia and describes the war in Ukraine as a 'conflict between two Slavic nations.' His position has led to accusations of blackmail and the use of Russia against the EU.

This puts Hungary's commitment to the EU's shared values at risk, and some member countries have become doubtful about Hungary's role in the bloc. The European Union is preparing for a possible trade war with the Trump administration and is looking for ways to bypass Orban's opposition and make swift decisions.

The President of Lithuania and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland have called for finding ways to prevent one person from blocking decisions and to create a 'coalition of the willing' to strengthen EU unity.
