Resilient Electric Networks: Ministry of Defense Joins NATO Technological Project.

MoD Joins NATO Project for Creating Power Networks Using Renewable Energy Sources
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is joining a NATO project aimed at creating reliable electric networks that will utilize renewable energy sources. This was reported by Sergey Melnyk, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
The creation of these electric networks will be conducted as part of the 'MILGRID' project, which is a part of the Military Resilience Microgrid Initiative (SPS) implemented under NATO's Science for Peace and Security Program. A higher military educational institution of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will also participate in the project.
'The use of renewable energy sources in the operation of electric networks will enhance the stability of power supply for necessary equipment in combat conditions. Ukraine will jointly develop these technologies with NATO and conduct testing. If the research results are successful, they will be implemented in the Armed Forces of Ukraine,' said Sergey Melnyk.
The Ministry of Defense will assist in identifying needs and ensuring the implementation of the microgrid. It will also conduct testing and share results with other project participants.
'The joint work of NATO member states will effectively counter security threats to our countries. Furthermore, this research will be valuable in disaster response and the defense of civilian infrastructure, where critical equipment requires emergency power,' emphasized Sergey Melnyk.
The project involves information exchange among participating countries, and funding will be provided through a grant from NATO.
