Russian Luge Athletes Miss Olympics-2026: Details of the Decision.


The 73rd Congress of the International Luge Federation (FIL) was held in Tampere, Finland. The meeting discussed the possible return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Voting showed that these two countries remain suspended from participating in future Winter Olympics.
The FIL delegates' decision means that Russian athletes will not have the right to participate in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. It was also decided not to allow neutral Russian athletes to participate in the AIN program. Earlier, the International Olympic Committee urged federations to permit Russians and Belarusians to participate in the qualification for the Games-2026, however, the FIL Congress decided otherwise.
As a result, Russian lugers and their entourage will not be allowed to participate in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Again, 24 delegates voted for exclusion, while eight supported the possibility of neutral participation.
