Almost 4.2 million refugees from Ukraine received temporary protection in the European Union
According to Eurostat, as of September 30, 2024, almost 4.2 million refugees from Ukraine received temporary protection in the countries of the European Union. These people are forced to leave their homeland due to Russian aggression.
Germany is the leader among EU countries in the number of Ukrainian refugees
It should be noted that Germany remains the leader among the countries of the European Union in terms of the number of Ukrainian refugees. There are over 1.1 million people in this country, which amounts to 26.9% of the total number. Poland is in second place with nearly 980 thousand (23.3%), and the Czech Republic is third with 378.5 thousand (9.0%).
The growth in the number of refugees reached the highest indicators in Germany, Poland, and Spain
Compared to August 2024, the largest increase in refugees was recorded in Germany (+7,005 people), Poland (+4,645), and Spain (+3,170). At the same Time, a slight decrease was observed in France and Italy.
The number of refugees received per thousand population
Depending on the total population, the highest rate of refugees received per thousand inhabitants was recorded in the Czech Republic (34.7), Lithuania (28.1), and Poland (26.8). The average rate for the European Union is 9.3 people per thousand population.
Refugees from Ukraine: statistics
According to Eurostat, over 98.3% of temporary protection recipients are citizens of Ukraine. Among the refugees, the largest number are women (45%), children make up nearly a third (32.3%), and men account for over a fifth (22.7%).
