The European Union may allocate up to 9 billion euros for weapons to Ukraine from frozen Russian assets.

The European Union is considering the possibility of allocating up to 9 billion euros for military assistance to Ukraine in 2025. These funds are planned to be provided instead of frozen Russian assets.

According to 'European Truth', the EU summit has decided on possible ways to finance Ukraine's defense needs. One of these ways is the 'military needs component of the G7 ERA initiative'.

Under this mechanism, Ukraine will be allocated 18.1 billion euros from the taxation of frozen Russian assets.

'One of the diplomats representing a major EU state told 'EuroTruth' that under the conditions of receiving G7 ERA loans, Ukraine could direct up to 9 billion euros for military needs - half of the declared amount for 2025,' the material notes.

It is currently unclear how the Ukrainian government plans to use these 18.1 billion euros.

The discussion of the ERA mechanism comes amid criticism of the main diplomat Kaja Kallas's plan to allocate billions of euros for weapons to Ukraine due to the lack of specific mechanisms for its implementation.

'However, Kallas's initiative is not dismissed. The next discussion on it will be held at the political level during an informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Warsaw on April 2-3,' 'EuroTruth' reports.

It should be reminded that the EU's plan for military assistance to Ukraine amounting to 40 billion euros has not been implemented.
