AFU explained why Russians captured Novogrodivka in Donetsk region so quickly.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to withdraw troops from the city of Novogrodivka in the Pokrovsk direction of the Donetsk region due to an unfavorable geographical position. This was reported by officer of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade Serhiy Tsekhotskyi in an interview with "Radio Liberty".
"Novogrodivka is geographically in a not very advantageous position. As a fortress, it was not set up 100%. Therefore, it was advantageous to withdraw the personnel," the military explained.
However, Tsekhotskyi noted that the withdrawal from Novogrodivka is not the final point in this battle.
Let us recall that the defense forces of Ukraine restored their positions near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. Earlier, British intelligence reported that Russian occupiers intensified their offensive on Pokrovsk, approaching its outskirts at a distance of about 10 kilometers.
The Pokrovsk direction has become the hottest on the front, and heavy fighting continues there. The deputy commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade Maksym Zhorin predicts that the loss of Pokrovsk for Ukraine could have serious consequences.
The Russian occupiers also achieved minor successes north of Chasiv Yar, moving towards eastern Hryhorivka. According to The Telegraph forecasts, they are actively continuing to advance in the Pokrovsk direction, but they will not succeed in fully capturing the city.
