In Ukraine, the procedure for returning damaged products has been changed: new terms.

Ukraine introduces new rules for returning damaged products
The Ukrainian government has approved new rules for returning unfit or unsafe food products for consumption. This change will take effect after the end or cancellation of martial law, along with amendments to the Law 'On Consumer Rights Protection'.
The new rules allow for the replacement of unfit or unsafe food products with suitable alternatives or the receipt of monetary compensation. In addition, they establish clear deadlines for returning or replacing unfit or unsafe products and outline procedures for the buyer and seller.
According to the new rules, the deadlines for replacing or returning products are as follows:
- 24 hours for food products stored at a temperature of +6 degrees;
- No more than 3 calendar days for products with a consumption deadline (date 'use by') or up to 14 days in the case of minimum shelf life (but in any case before the expiration date);
- After 14 days for items with a shelf life of over 14 days.
Additionally, for online purchases, there is a return or exchange period that begins at the moment the products are received by the buyer.
'The proposed mechanism will help protect buyers' rights while providing businesses the opportunity to quickly and without court appeals resolve conflicts with consumers. This will somewhat help honest businesses avoid inspections,' said Economy Minister Tetiana Berezhna.
