The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has announced a reduction in the number of medical universities. According to Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vinnytskyi, students in medical specialties should receive basic higher education at classical higher education institutions.
Vinnytskyi noted that there are only four medical universities operating in Europe, while Ukraine has 15. He believes that over Time, representatives of the medical community will understand that the model of medical faculties within classical universities is more competitive than that of independent medical universities.
However, Vinnytskyi noted that such an idea will not be implemented in the near future, but specialized medical universities are remnants of the Soviet system. He proposes to create powerful medical faculties within classical universities, where students can choose more subjects for study and then focus on the medical field.
