The largest solar power station in Europe has opened at Rome airport.

Rome Fiumicino International Airport opens the largest solar farm in Europe
Rome Fiumicino International Airport has presented its new solar farm, located near the runway. This photovoltaic system consists of 55 thousand panels and is the largest in Europe. This project will reduce annual carbon emissions during airport operations by more than 11 thousand tons.
«This station shows how carbon neutrality can be achieved, and how decarbonization can be reached not through sacrifices, but rather: through more modern and carbon-neutral production», the material states.
The official opening of the station was attended by the Italian Minister of Energy. The project is significant as it will allow the reduction of carbon emissions during airport operations by over 11 thousand tons annually.
It is important to note that the idea of such projects can be implemented not only at airports but also in other areas that are not used for agriculture. Adopting such 'green' solutions can contribute to the green transition and help reduce dependence on fossil resources.
Fiumicino International Airport, which serves about 50 million passengers annually, has been recognized as the best airport in Europe for the past seven years. The Italian authorities hope that this airport will become an example of 'green economy' for the entire world.
