Ukrainian customs officers found a Tripillian vase up to seven thousand years old in a parcel.

Ukrposhta attempted to send an ancient vase from the Eneolithic period to Switzerland. This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
According to the documents, the package sent by a resident of Kyiv region was supposed to contain clothes and a gift. However, during customs control, officers noticed a vase resembling ancient ceramic products.
The item was sent to the National Museum of History of Ukraine, where its belonging to the Cucuteni-Trypillia archaeological culture of the Eneolithic period was confirmed.
Experts stated that the item that underwent examination is a painted vase on a pallet. Similar products are characteristic of the Cucuteni-Trypillia cultural community of the Eneolithic period. The characteristic features of the painting suggest that the vase originates from settlements in the Dniester valley.
The upper part of the vase has a painting in the form of stylized snakes, while the lower part - in semi-oval arcs. It is recognized that this item has archaeological value.
Customs officers noted that export of cultural values requires permit documents. Since no documents were provided, the vase was confiscated, and a protocol of rule violation was drawn up against the resident of Kyiv region.
It should be recalled that border guards at the checkpoint with Romania discovered a Stradivarius violin, which possibly has historical value.
Previously, at the "Ustyluh" checkpoint in Volyn, border guards seized from a man a collection of coins minted in the mid-20th century.
