Ukrainians will be able to receive a zero rate on car customs clearance

The Ukrainian parliament is considering the possibility of restoring the zero rate on customs clearance of cars for citizens who participated in combat operations. The bills proposing this have been registered in the Verkhovna Rada.

In the past, the main entities allowed to import cars without paying customs duties were military personnel. However, this exemption was canceled. Now, the authors of the bill propose to restore this opportunity for combat participants, as they often appeal for this exemption. This will help them have more accessible vehicles for military purposes and to fulfill tasks on the front lines.

The bill outlines the following conditions for zero customs clearance:

  • status of a person with a disability due to war;
  • combatant who was injured while participating in events concerning the security and defense of Ukraine;
  • authorized person, representatives of these participants;
  • individual who transferred their vehicle to a military unit participating in defense actions of Ukraine.

Bill No. 13058 provides for zero customs clearance during the period of martial law, while Bill No. 13059 is valid until December 31 of the year following the repeal of martial law.

Currently, these initiatives are under consideration in the Verkhovna Rada. After their approval, they will come into force one month after publication.
