The US executed a condemned prisoner by firing squad for the first time in 15 years.

For the first Time in 15 years, the US executed a condemned prisoner, Brad Sigmon, by firing squad. He was convicted of beating to death the parents of his ex-girlfriend in 2001.
67-year-old Brad Sigmon chose to be executed by firing squad, saying he feared a slower and more painful death if the execution were to be carried out by electric chair or lethal injection.
In 2001, Sigmon was convicted for the murder of his ex-girlfriend's parents. He bludgeoned them to death in their own home with a baseball bat.
Among the witnesses observing the execution from a bulletproof glass enclosure were three family members of the victims, a lawyer, Sigmon's spiritual advisor, a representative from the prosecutor's office, a sheriff's investigator, and three members of the press.
Sigmon's execution is scheduled for March 7 at 6:00 PM local time (01:00 March 8 in Kyiv). The condemned man was strapped to a chair in his cell. A special bag was placed over his head, and a target was placed on his heart. Then three volunteers entered the chamber and shot him with specially designed bullets from 15 feet (4.6 meters) away.
It is worth noting that in September 2024, the second execution using nitrogen in US history took place in the state of Alabama.
According to reports, this method was criticized after it was used back in January of this year in the same state. This time, a 59-year-old US citizen, Alan Eugene Miller, was executed, who had been convicted of killing three men in 1999.
