In the evening of March 22, an air alert was declared in Kyiv and several regions of Ukraine due to the presence of enemy drones. According to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenk, and the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the alert was announced at 20:39. It was also reported that there is a threat of strike drones being used in Kyiv.

Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenk, urged residents of Kyiv to avoid danger and stay in safe places. Earlier, the Air Force of Ukraine detected drones over various regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv region.

At 20:58, the Kyiv Regional Military Administration confirmed the presence of drones in the airspace of Kyiv region. Air defense systems are being used against these enemy targets. The Kyiv City Military Administration also urged residents of Kyiv to remain in shelters until the air alert is over.

Currently, the air alert is ongoing in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions.

At 21:17, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, reported that air defense forces are working against enemy drones on the left bank of the capital. It is also worth noting that an air alert is also being introduced in Zaporizhzhia region but will be announced separately for the city of Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia region.

In January 2021, a pilot project was launched in Cherkasy region for a warning system for air alerts. If enemy drones threaten a specific area, the alarm signal is received only by residents of that area where there is a potential threat.

The highest number of air alerts was recorded in Donetsk region - 165 days in 2024, and the longest air alert recorded in Kharkiv region lasted 50 hours, 31 minutes, and 18 seconds.
