More than 161 thousand children were born in Ukraine in 2024

According to the State Service of Ukraine for Children, 35.9 thousand children received baby boxes, and more than 126 thousand parents received monetary compensation for the price of the 'baby package' amounting to 974.2 million hryvnias. According to the report by the head of the service, Petr Dobromilsky, the expenses for one child amount to 7,689 UAH and can be spent in certain stores that have joined the state monetization program for the 'baby package'.

The State Service has concluded 812 additional agreements with various institutions across Ukraine. Information about these institutions can be found on the official website of the Ministry of Social Policy. It is worth recalling that in the first half of 2024, 87,655 children were born, which is 9% less than during the same period in 2023. However, there were also 250,972 deaths. The highest number of births and deaths was recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk region and Kyiv. The most children were born in Kyiv, Lviv region, Dnipropetrovsk region, Odesa region, and Kyiv region.

For every newborn citizen in Ukraine, there are three deceased. This is one of the key indicators of the demographic crisis.
