The National Bank Has Launched a Payment Security Campaign #FraudGoodbye
The National Bank of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Cyber Police Department and the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, is initiating a new information campaign aimed at raising citizens' awareness regarding safe payments, especially online.
In 2024, compared to 2023, this indicator has increased by more than a third (37%) – to a total amount of 1.1 billion hryvnias. The most common cause of fraud with payment cards in Ukraine, as well as worldwide, traditionally remains social engineering.
The National Bank reported that the main threat lies in the use of social engineering, where users voluntarily provide their personal data. This problem requires enhancing the population's knowledge regarding the safe use of payment systems.
During the campaign, various educational and information dissemination activities regarding protection against online fraud are planned, as well as the development of skills for safe online payments.
Analysis
The increasing number of cyber fraud cases and rising losses underline the importance of providing proper information to citizens regarding safe financial operations. Information campaigns like #FraudGoodbye can significantly improve the level of public awareness and help in preventing fraud in the digital environment.
