The Russian army continues to attack border communities in the Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions. Currently, there are no signs of a large military formation being formed, but Ukrainian soldiers are preparing for any possible developments. This was reported by the spokesperson of the operational-tactical group 'Siversk', Vadym Mysnyk. He noted that the Russian army is moving its forces closer to the northern border with Ukraine. Mysnyk confirmed that the Ukrainian military controls the situation and is trying to strike deep into Russian territory and destroy any enemy equipment.
“We are recording the presence of Russian troops. The Russian army is deploying its forces along the state border, but so far we do not see signs of a large military formation being formed. Using their logistics, the Russian military can quickly transfer their forces,” said the spokesperson of the operational-tactical group 'Siversk'.Mysnyk also explained that the level of training of Russian troops varies. Russians actively use sabotage and reconnaissance groups, but the Ukrainian military has enough technical means to detect these groups.
“We know that they use special forces as sabotage and reconnaissance groups. We respond to their attacks. Currently, vegetation begins to appear in the territory, and there are geographical features. This region has always been suitable for the actions of sabotage and reconnaissance groups. But we have enough technical means to detect them. We have counter-sabotage reserves. However, the threat of sabotage and reconnaissance groups exists,” he explained.According to the operational-tactical group 'Siversk', Russian troops are using all their weapons, including aviation. Over the past day, April 5, aviation drops were recorded in the Sumy region. It is worth noting that on April 6, Russians reported the capture of the village of Basivka in the Sumy region. However, the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, refuted this information and informed that the Russians continue their disinformation campaign regarding the capture of settlements in the Sumy region and the breakthrough of the border. We remind you that the Russian occupation forces plan to focus on an attempt to occupy the entire Donetsk region, specifically in the Lyman direction.Earlier, British intelligence assessed the pace of the Russian offensive in Ukraine. The progress of the Russian army slowed down in the first months of 2025, and their territorial gains decreased. It is also reported that at the end of March, Russian troops increased the number of ground attacks, but these attacks did not lead to an acceleration of enemy advancement.
