Polish border guards refuted the Russian fake about hordes of refugees at the border.

Ukrainian propagandists spread a fake claim that a wave of refugees from Ukraine is storming the Polish-Ukrainian border to flee the country. However, this information is false. Polish border guards reported this.
According to the disseminated fakes, Ukrainian mothers are mass evacuating their underage sons out of fear of changes in the conscription age. This leads to the formation of queues at the border. It was reported that up to 150,000 people from Ukraine arrive in Poland daily.
However, the Polish Border Guard does not confirm either the numbers or the phenomenon itself. According to the spokesperson for the Nadbuzhansky section of the Border Guard, there has been increased traffic at the border with Ukraine over the past week, which pertains to both directions - both entering and exiting Poland. This is a traditional occurrence related to the Christmas and New Year period.
Queues at the border and bus traffic
Since December 20, longer queues have been forming at the border with Ukraine, but the movement has been evenly distributed in both directions, with a predominance of exits from Poland. No single day has recorded 150,000 Ukrainian citizens wishing to enter Poland.
At the peak on December 22, nearly 89,000 Ukrainian citizens crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border, but most of them, almost 49,000, left Poland. This trend is also confirmed by data on bus traffic at the border. On December 23, 260 buses leaving Poland were registered at the border crossings, while 159 buses entered Poland.
Many Ukrainians who are in Poland decided to spend Christmas with their families back home. On the other hand, due to the holidays, many Ukrainians visited relatives or friends in Poland.
Departure of Ukrainians abroad
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the Russian invasion, 6.5 million Ukrainians have left for abroad. According to a research fellow at the M.V. Ptukha Institute of Demography and Social Research, it is easier to return them home than labor migrants.
Throughout 2025, it is important for Ukrainians living or working in Poland to monitor the expiration date of their documents to avoid problems with residency, employment, or social benefits.
