In Khmelnytskyi, a man attempted to sell an ancient artifact at auction.

In Khmelnytskyi, authorities halted the illegal sale of an artifact from the era of the Great Migration of Peoples
Law enforcement officers in Khmelnytskyi discovered and stopped the illegal trade of an artifact belonging to the era of the Great Migration of Peoples. This information comes from the Office of the Attorney General.
This artifact, specifically a silver ornament, dates back to 425-450 AD and is a unique item. One of the residents of Khmelnytskyi was attempting to sell it on an online auction. However, museum staff noticed this sale in Time and reported it to the prosecutor's office.
Such artifacts, known as 'Sjozdala style', symbolize the international style of barbarian elites of that period, and their spread indicated the migration of peoples. They have been found in various countries, such as Volhynia, Crimea, Scandinavia, Hungary, Germany, and Northern France. However, these are rare specimens currently absent from museum collections.
During the inspection, information about the seller was established, and the artifact was confiscated. A comprehensive commission and art expertise, as well as an analysis of alloys and metals, will now be conducted.
It is noteworthy that the theft of artifacts from Ukrainian museums and archaeological sites has become common in the international black market.
Previously, important stone monuments, such as the lower part of a Polovtsian statue from the 12th century and a harmonium dating back to the 19th - early 20th century, were evacuated from Donetsk to Dnipro.
As reported, during customs clearance of an international postal shipment, Kyiv customs officers seized three archaeological artifacts dating back to the sixth millennium BC from a package heading to the USA.
By the way, law enforcement officers confiscated and returned to state ownership a unique adornment from the 3rd century, a collection of ancient items, and 264 paintings that were found in the banned in Ukraine OPZZh of Viktor Medvedchuk, who is under indictment for treason. The value of the artifacts and artworks amounts to millions of dollars.
