Mobilization with a Criminal Record: A Lawyer Named Categories Subject to Conscription.

Ukraine is actively involving citizens in the defense of the country. According to lawyer Tetyana Savchenko, people with past criminal records can be drafted for military service after their correctional work term ends. Such individuals cannot be sent to the army if their crimes involved serious violations of national security. However, individuals who received a suspended sentence or punishment for less serious crimes may be called up for military service.
As for the distribution of such individuals, they are not assigned to separate military units, except for those who committed crimes against national security. In these cases, they are directed to special units according to the decision of the General Staff.
Ukraine continues the mobilization of citizens to ensure national security, paying attention to the criminal history of potential servicemen.
Ukraine mobilizes citizens for military service considering their criminal history. People with past convictions may be prevented from serving in the army in case of serious crimes against national security. After the end of the imprisonment term or conditional pre-trial rehabilitation, such individuals may be called up for military service.
