Canada prepares for a wave of migrants due to Trump's election victory.

Canadian police prepare for influx of asylum seekers
Canadian police are preparing for an increase in the number of people seeking asylum in Canada following Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election. According to Reuters, Canadian police have been preparing for months to accept refugees.
A few months ago, we knew that we had to start preparing an emergency plan because if he comes to power, and now he will in a few months, it could cause illegal migration into Quebec and Canada. - said police sergeant Charles Poirier.
In the event of mass illegal migration, the police will have to detain people crossing the border, and this could be difficult due to the large number of people. However, it is not the first Time Canada has faced a mass influx of refugees from the US. In 2017, after Trump came to power, thousands of people crossed the border to file asylum applications.
Migrant rights advocates note that people moving from the US to seek asylum in Canada must act discreetly and hide for two weeks before applying for asylum. This is due to the instability of laws and the lack of legal pathways for such migrants.
Canada halts the program for Ukrainian refugees
The Canadian government program for Ukrainian refugees, which provided an opportunity to obtain permanent residence in Canada, will be terminated. This program was created to help Ukrainian families who were separated due to the conflict with Russia. However, new applications for the program are no longer accepted. Applications submitted before the program's closure are still being considered, and candidates may receive temporary residence permits.
Canada's Minister of Immigration, Marc Miller, stated that the country will not extend the urgent visa program for Ukrainians beyond the deadline.
