The head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, Danilo Hetmancev, stated that Ukraine is selling fewer goods than it is buying, which may lead to a deficit in payment operations in 2025. The projected deficit will exceed 16%. In 2024, the current operations deficit in the country was 8.4%, but forecasts for 2025 suggest it could rise to 16.5%. Hetmancev noted that this state of affairs negatively impacts the hryvnia and macro-financial stability. The MP believes that if the difference in payment operations were covered by direct foreign investments, it would be positive, but currently, it is compensated by irregular assistance from partners.
