European Commission to spend 500 million euros to attract scientists.

The European Commission will allocate 500 million euros to attract scientists to Europe
The head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced the allocation of 500 million euros to support programs aimed at attracting scientists from around the world to Europe. She made this announcement at the Sorbonne during the presentation of the 'Choose Europe' program, Reuters reports.
Ursula von der Leyen noted that European Union countries plan to reach 3% of GDP investment in research and development by 2030. French President Emmanuel Macron also promised 100 million from France for these purposes, although it was not specified whether this is additional funding to what the European Commission has allocated.
«We urge researchers from all over the world to unite and join us... If you love freedom, come and help us stay free», - said Macron.
This funding will be used to finance scientific projects and will help universities cover costs associated with attracting foreign scientists for collaboration in their research.
Enhancing efforts is crucial due to the policy of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, which involves cuts in funding for scientific research. In response, several countries, including Canada, France, and Germany, are focusing on attracting American scientists by inviting them to work and live in their countries.
Analysis
The European Union invests significant resources in supporting scientific research and attracting talented scientists to Europe. This could positively impact the development of scientific fields in the region and promote international cooperation in science.
