Macron: sanctions against Russia will increase
French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the leaders of the G7 countries agreed to strengthen sanctions against Russia. He expressed this information during a meeting in Canada.
'We have reached a common position on the necessity to strengthen sanctions,' Macron emphasized. According to him, the countries of the European Union plan to take more stringent measures against Russia than those currently in place in the United States. He also noted that Canada, Japan, and the United Kingdom are 'working closely' with the EU on this issue.
'In our opinion, this will change the situation, as it will allow us to bring Russia back to the negotiating table, as required by President Trump,' Macron stated.
The French President expressed support for strengthening sanctions against Russia at the G7 summit. He also emphasized the common position of the European Union and other countries on this issue.
