The propaganda agency RIA Novosti received an order stating that December 28 in Chechnya would be declared a day of mourning for the Azerbaijani plane crash.
On December 26, the head of the Chechen government, Hasan Hakimov, announced that following Ramzan Kadyrov's directive, financial and other assistance would be provided to the families of the victims and those affected by the crash.
The General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan reported that its officials had arrived in Grozny for a joint investigation with the Russian side.
It is noted that prosecutors are acting at the direction of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and “are doing everything possible to establish the causes of the air crash.”
Earlier, President of Russia Vladimir Putin called President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and apologized for the aviation tragedy involving the plane over Aktau.
It is recalled that the passenger plane, Embraer, which was flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed at the Aktau airport. There were 67 passengers and five crew members on board, including 37 citizens of Azerbaijan, 16 Russians, six Kazakhs, and three Kyrgyz.
As reported, Rosaviatsiya believes that a collision with birds caused the air crash. “After the collision with birds, due to an emergency situation on board the aircraft, the commander decided to land the plane at the alternate airfield - in this case, Aktau,” the statement said. It was also reported that an oxygen tank exploded on board the plane, after which people began to lose consciousness.
The cause of the air crash was dense fog
Later, head of Rosaviatsiya Dmitry Yadrov commented on the plane's accident in Aktau. According to him, the dense fog and lack of visibility at an altitude of 500 meters were among the main causes of the air crash. “The commander of the aircraft made two attempts to land the plane in Grozny, which were unsuccessful.”
It is worth mentioning that the head of the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, stated that the cause of the Embraer 190 plane crash in Kazakhstan was a Russian surface-to-air missile system (SAM). According to him, the plane was damaged due to actions by Russian military equipment and was sent to Kazakhstan “instead of making an emergency landing in Grozny and saving the passengers' lives.”
