He was a 'walking encyclopedia' and loved to sing. Remembering Dmytro Melentyev.


Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives have been taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Dmytro Melentyev.
Commander of the mortar battery of the 157th separate mechanized brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Melentyev, was killed while performing a combat mission on April 1, 2025. This was reported by Glavkom, referring to the Lviv City Council.
Dmytro Melentyev was born on September 16, 1976, into a military family. In 1987, the Melentyev family moved to Lviv. Dmytro studied at Secondary School No. 86, then obtained higher education at the National University of Lviv Polytechnic, specializing in computer information processing and management systems, and graduated from the military department at the university.
After completing his studies, he worked as a software engineer in a number of local companies, including PrJSC Firm Naftogazbud, LLC ASU-Druzhba, and Faina Studio LLC. Since 2006, he was a private entrepreneur, leading international development teams.
According to his family, Dmytro was a person with a big heart - kind, sincere, smart, and always with a smile on his face, he radiated warmth and calm. Everyone was amazed by his knowledge - in the family, he was called a walking encyclopedia. Dmytro loved life, nature, and especially - quiet walks in the forest searching for mushrooms, which brought him true satisfaction. He had a sincere soul, loved to sing Ukrainian songs, and was always the life of the party - it was easy, fun, and cozy with him.
Captain. In May 2024, he was called up to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, underwent retraining at the National Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaydachny. He served in the military as the commander of the mortar battery of the 157th separate mechanized brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was killed while performing a combat mission.
The farewell to the warrior took place on April 11 at St. Andrew's Church on Warsaw Street. The funeral service was held at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. The defender was buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.
Dmytro Melentyev is survived by his parents, sister, wife, and two sons.
