Gasoline E5 from May 1: what the innovation threatens old cars.

Ukraine is introducing a new regulation under which most gasoline will contain 5% bioethanol. This implementation is part of European standards and raises doubts among drivers. However, this innovation has its advantages, such as environmental safety, energy security, eurointegration, and logistical benefits. There are also some risks for cars, such as the possibility of softening dirt in the fuel system and damaging rubber parts. Nevertheless, practical experience shows that these problems arise only with a high alcohol content, which is unlikely with the use of gasoline containing 5% bioethanol. Ukraine is also facing issues regarding the price and quality of this new fuel, as there are no clear regulations and quality monitoring. The public is advised to refrain from purchasing fuel from unknown operators in the first months after the introduction of the new gasoline. Right now in Ukraine, the stage of 'fuel differentiation' is beginning, and we see how this affects prices and the quality of available gasoline.
