The second pilot of the "Azerbaijan Airlines" plane, Oleksandr Kalyaninv, saved many lives of passengers during the flight from Baku to Grozny, risking his own life. He was smart and knowledgeable, spoke several foreign languages, and was always ready to help. This was reported by the Ukrainian State Flight Academy.

Oleksandr Kalyaninv was born in 1992 and always dreamed of a career as a pilot. He graduated from the Kropyvnytskyi flight academy, where he obtained qualifications as a pilot engineer and research engineer. In April 2021, he received a master's degree in aviation transport.

The Embraer plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed at Aktau airport. There were 67 passengers and 5 crew members on board, including citizens of Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The head of Rosaviation, Dmitry Yadrov, stated that thick fog and low visibility were among the main causes of the crash. The aircraft commander attempted to land the plane in Grozny twice but was unsuccessful.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called for a fair investigation into the air disaster.

According to the head of the Ukrainian Center for Counteracting Disinformation, the Russian surface-to-air missile system (SAM) caused the air disaster. He claims that the plane was damaged during the actions of the Russian military, who instead of landing in Grozny diverted it to Kazakhstan.
